MCI Counseling Marines Practice Test 2026 – Complete Exam Prep

After the main body of counseling, the senior should review the main points and plan for follow-up to ensure that the subordinate clearly understands what has been discussed and what actions need to be taken going forward. This step reinforces the key components of the counseling session, allowing both the senior and the subordinate to confirm that the objectives were met and agreed upon.

By summarizing the main points, the senior provides clarity and reinforces the importance of the conversation. Additionally, planning for follow-up demonstrates commitment to the subordinate's development and ensures accountability for the progress on outlined goals. This also facilitates ongoing communication, making it more likely that the subordinate feels supported and guided in their efforts.

This approach fosters a constructive environment, whereas abruptly ending the session, leaving the subordinate alone, or providing no feedback would undermine the counseling's purpose and potentially leave the subordinate confused or without direction.
